True Power
Without sufficient energy transferred to the tattoo, the targeted structure will not be shattered. This energy must be delivered extremely quickly – in a matter of nanoseconds – in order for heating of the tattoo pigment to happen within the thermal relaxation time of the ink particles. Astanza’s lasers are q-switched, allowing for single-digit nanosecond pulses for Nd:YAG and double-digit nanosecond pulses for the Ruby.
The ability to deliver this energy in a single, powerful pulse is essential. Many tattoo removal lasers – completely inadequate to truly remove tattoos – will “stack” pulses milliseconds apart – never allowing effective heating and shattering of tattoo ink. Other equipment will use insufficient energy to address medium-to-difficult tattoos, rendering practitioners impotent in the face of the majority of tattoos they will treat.

Wavelengths that Work
Research over the past three decades has confirmed that Nd:YAG and Ruby lasers are the most effective at removing tattoos. Astanza is the only manufacturer of tattoo removal lasers that has created a series of lasers to include a laser with both Nd:YAG and Ruby crystals.
Our Duality laser is a powerful Nd:YAG laser used to treat the majority of tattoos presented for removal. Effective at removing many colors of ink, Nd:YAG lasers have been the gold standard for cosmetic removal of tattoos. The 1064 nanometer wavelength is effective at removing many black, purple, and brown tattoos. The 532nm wavelength is able to effectively address many red, orange, and some yellow tattoos. Our practitioners have found that at least 80% of tattoos presented for removal will consist of these listed colors.
Astanza’s Trinity is the only laser available that – within one system – incorporates Nd:YAG technology with Ruby. Ruby has been shown in exhaustive research to be effective at removal of blue and green tattoos that Nd:YAG is generally ineffective at addressing. The wavelength produced by the Ruby – 694.3nm – is also very effective at removing black ink and many other colors. Within one laser system, practitioners can successfully address all colors of tattoo ink with true 1 Joule energy.
